Wisconsin History

Wisconsin's history is not very much but it is still something, so i will tell you about it. Native American tribes also made their homes in Wisconsin, but the french and british were the first ones to settle there. The fur trade was also big around that area, but the french and military personnel brought over slaves in the 1700s. Lots of people settled here, but now americans are settled here. Wisconsin is known for our dairy, thats why we are called the "dairy state". Wisconsin is in the mid-west so it has more flatlands than anything. Believe it or not there was actually lead mining in southwest Wisconsin. Settlers came to Wisconsin for good farmland. Intense conflict was among the people when the federal government forced native americans out of there homes. Sadly over 1000 native americans were killed in the Black Hawk War, the other tribes either left or negotiated reservation lands with the government. Over 3 waves of settlers came to wisconsin, mostly because of the farmland but after all of that, Wisconsin came into the Union as the 30th state.
